No. 3 Michigan leads No. 13 Iowa 21-3 after three quarters in the Big Ten Championship fashion Game, and it’s hard to imagine the Hawkeyes will make a game of this. Michigan jumped out to an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to two big plays, but the Iowa defense quickly settled in and has kept the Wolverines in check for the most part since.
The problem is Iowa’s offense can’t do anything to take advantage. The Hawkeyes have managed only 237 yards of offense and are averaging 4.2 yards per play. They’ve run 23 of their 57 offensive plays in Michigan territory but have only three points to show for it. They’ve missed a field goal and had a long third-quarter drive end in a turnover on downs inside the Michigan 10-yard line.
Michigan starts the fourth quarter with the ball, and barring an epic collapse like the one Nebraska suffered against the Hawkeyes last week, it’s on the verge of its first Big Ten title since 2004 and its first College Football Playoff berth.
