Twitter / @MyNameIsRaph, @RandyTroy It looked like a scene straight out of, well, a movie on the Warner Bros. lot … as black smoke billowed into the air from the famous Hollywood plot. Fire crews raced to the scene in Burbank Friday afternoon after a transformer — no, not the car/robot kind — reportedly blew up and started a fire. The good news is no one appears to have been hurt during the melee, and the whole thing was put out super quickly. As for the lot, it’s obviously got a TON of history, so it’s a good thing none of the famous sound stages suffered any significant damage in the blaze. And, if you’re wondering … that iconic WB water tower didn’t come in handy for firefighters, it’s actually empty. The Warner Bros. lot served as home base for some of the most popular shows ever on TV — including “Friends,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Shameless,” and “Euphoria.” Not to mention, some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters were also filmed on location, including “Jurassic Park,” “Batman & Robin,” gaming “Casablanca,” “Inception” and a ton more. Talk about a smokin’ hot start to the holiday weekend!!!

France is rioting over police brutality. It’s not the first time.
The legacy of police violence, especially against immigrant communities, stretches back decades. In the fall of 1961, authorities cracked down on thousands of anti-colonialism protesters who had descended on Paris at the height of fitness the Algerian War. Dubbed the Paris Massacre, the tragedy still resonates with France’s Arab and Muslim communities. An estimated 200 people were killed — shot, strangled or thrown into the Seine.
For years, the French government covered up the atrocities. Source link
12 artists who made their name as musicians and actors – ARTnews.com
For people who live in the public eye, painting can be a way to peacefully remove oneself from the melee of life in the spotlight. From politicians like Winston Churchill to actors like Jim Carrey, the famous have often enjoyed putting paint to canvass (despite often hard-to-stomach results). This month Christie’s auction house shined a spotlight on the artwork one of the most recognizable singers of the disco era, Donna Summer in an online sale that saw not only photos, sequined dresses and ephemera, but also Summers’ paintings take their turn on the auction block. Below, ARTnews would like to introduce you to Donna Summer the visual artist, and eleven other celebrities you may now have known were visual artists. Donna Summer Image Credit: Copyright © Christie’s Images Limited 2023. There’s no question that the Queen of Disco’s music inspired innumerable booties to shake it on the dance floor. But most people don’t know that she was a visual artist as well. According Love to Love You, Donna Summer, a recently released documentary that traces the signer songwriter’s life and career directed by Roger Ross Williams and Brooklyn Sudano, Donna Summer’s daughter, she first aspired to be an actress. “It’s always strange to me that we put people into these boxes, especially people who become famous,” Sudano told ARTnews. “But really, they are all artists, they’re storytellers who are able to be extremely creative in all these different mediums. It’s just a matter of whether the audience can accept the fact that an artist can be more than one thing. For my mother, she really was an artist in every sense. Her paintings and sketches were just another manifestation of her artistry.” Sudano recalls her mother’s studio in the garage of their ranch home in Thousand Oaks, California. “There would be multiple canvases up at the same time in the garage. She would start one and while that was drying, she’d move on to another.” At first the paintings were purely for herself, Sudano says, “music was for other people, the painting was really for her own sense of artistry.” A selection of Summer’s paintings, along with handwritten lyrics, performance outfits and other personal items, were recently on sale at Christie’s. Many of the works hung in the living room and kitchen of her California home when Sudano was growing up. “It’s a little bittersweet, selling these paintings my sister and I grew up with,” Sudano said. “My mother’s fans have been so generous to use over the years it didn’t feel right to keep these things in storage. They are meant to be shared, to be experienced.” Pierce Brosnan Image Credit: Alex J. Berliner/AB Images. With all the things James Bond fans have to disagree over there is one thing they can all can say with certainty. There is only one 007 who wanted to be a painter before he became an actor. Brosnan left school at 16 and with no prior experience was hired as a trainee commercial illustration artist in South London. “I was this young man with aspirations to do album covers,” Brosnan told ARTnews. “I’d found my passion. For the first time in my life, I was surrounded by artists. They only let me draw the straight lines. I’d make cups of tea and water the spider plants. I was so happy.” Then acting came along. After he moved to Hollywood, Brosnan bought a studio’s worth of art supplies, but rarely put brush to canvas. That is, until his wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1986. To ease the worry and anguish he made two paintings and hasn’t stopped since. Last month Brosnan had a hometown solo show at Control Gallery on North La Brea Avenue comprised of 100 drawings and 50 paintings, including one of the two he made when he restarted his practice 36 years ago. “It’s a much more insular feeling, to show your work as an artist, as a painter,” Brosnan said when asked about the differences between acting and painting. “There are always moments of doubt when you expose yourself in that way, but as in life, all roads lead to ‘if not now, when?” Alia Shawkat Image Credit: Paul Bruinooge/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images. While most people know Alia Shawkat from her role as the mischievous Maeby Fünke on Arrested Development and her current role in Search Party, Shawkat has been painting since she was 18 years old. Of course, making paintings and getting noticed by the art world are two very different things. Luckily, a friend introduced her to the founders of the subversive art fair Spring/Break Andrew Gori and Ambre Kelly, who invited her to show at the Los Angeles edition of the fair last year. Shawkat says her art practice doesn’t take away from her acting career; rather the two pursuits work together. “They feed each other,” Shawkat told Artnet in 2022. “When I’m not doing one, I do the other. That helps me—otherwise I’d quit. I don’t know if I’d ever get tired of painting, but I’d get tired of acting if I didn’t have a studio.” Sharon Stone Image Credit: Robert Smith/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images. An art practice is not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of actor Sharon Stone, better known for her star turns in Martin Scorsese’s Casino and Woody Allen’s Stardust Memories (not to mention in Paul Verhoeven’s thriller Basic Instinct). Nevertheless, Stone has been painting since she was a child—when an aunt would give her art lessons—and, as an adult, she studied painting at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. Stone set aside her brushes after her acting career picked up steam, but according to an interview with The Art Newspaper, fame allowed her to visit museum across the world while they were closed to the public, experiences she counts as among her favorite memories. Like many people, Stone found herself with an abundance of free time during the Covid-19 pandemic. A well-wishing friend sent her a paint-by-numbers kit to help pass the time, reviving her interest in painting. “I bought real brushes and I started to regain my control, my brush movements,” Stone told TAN. “I painted and painted and painted, and I refound myself. I refound my heart. I refound my center.” Earlier this year Stone had her first solo show, Shedding, at Allouche Gallery in Los Angeles. Jim Carrey Image Credit: Timothy A. Clary/AFP via Getty Images. Among the many actors who make visual art, few have received more publicity for it than Jim Carrey, winner of a Golden Globe award for his portrayal of fellow actor Andy Kaufman in 1999’s masterful Man on the Moon. That wasn’t always the case, but in 2017, Carrey introduced the world to his paintings with a solo show at Signature Gallery Group’s Las Vegas location and a six-minute documentary, I Needed Color, which shows Carrey at work in his studio. (By the end of the year the video had been viewed more than 5 million times.) In a 2017 interview with W magazine Carrey said, “It’s all about that for me now—being completely involved, heart, mind, and soul. Sometimes it’s art, sometimes it’s performance, and sometimes it’s just talking to someone.” He was given a solo show of his political cartoons at Maccarone Gallery in 2018. Lucy Liu Image Credit: Scott Gries/Getty Images for The Ritz-Carlton. Once you’ve made your name in film and television, it’s hard to be taken seriously as an artist. It’s for that reason the actress Lucy Liu, who has had a successful career on both big and small screens, shows her work under her Chinese name, Yu Ling. Like many people on this list Liu was interested in visual art from a young age. In the 1980s, when she was teenager in Queens, New York, she began taking photographs and experimenting with collage. A 1993 exhibition of her photos at Cast Iron Gallery in New York earned her a grant to explore both her art and her cultural heritage at Beijing Normal University. But it wasn’t until 2007, after studying painting at New York Studio School, that Liu says she found a way to fully express herself artistically. In 2019 she exhibited her artworks in “Unhomed Belongings,” a two-person show with Singaporean artist Shubigi Rao at the National Museum of Singapore. “It was probably the most significant moment as an artist that I’ve had,” Liu told Artsy. “What I really loved was that there was no exchange, it wasn’t about selling, it was about sharing. That felt so good when people showed fashion up and were actually looking at the work, closely and curiously. It made me feel very connected.… It was a way of understanding you are not really detached, and you are part of something.” James Franco Image Credit: Valerie Macon/AFP/Getty Images. Throughout his career the actor James Franco has been someone who has avoided being pinned down, preferring to have one foot in Hollywood, another in academia, and his hands in the arts, from performance to poetry to painting. And despite how widely his interests are spread, Franco may be the actor who up to this point has had the most legitimacy-conferring show, at least as far as venue goes. In 2014 the actor’s New Film Stills, a recreation of Cindy Sherman’s groundbreaking “Film Stills” series, at Pace Gallery in New York. That said, the critic Roberta Smith panned the show in the New York Times, and her husband, critic and social media darling Jerry Saltz, wrote in New York magazine that though he loves Franco’s acting, “at this point, George W. Bush is actually a better artist than James Franco.” Cindy Sherman herself had an opinion about the show, saying “I can only be flattered. I don’t know that I can say it’s art, but I think it’s weirder that Pace would show them than that he would make them.” Anthony Hopkins Image Credit: Amy Sussman/Getty Images. Like many on this list, Sir Anthony Hopkins was a creative child, but it wasn’t until 2003 that, spurred on by his wife, the British actor rekindled his love of painting. In a 2020 ARTnews interview Hopkins talks about his return to painting, his art routine during the pandemic, and the advice Stan Winston, a friend who did special effects for Steven Spielberg’s 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park, gave him after seeing his work. “He said, ‘Who did these?’ And I pulled a self-deprecating face and said, ‘Well, I did.’ He asked me why I had pulled that face and I told him that I had no training. And he put his hand in mine and he said, ‘Don’t. Don’t do any training. Don’t take any lessons because you’ll kill it. You’re an artist. You’re a painter.’” Sylvester Stallone Image Credit: Andreas Rentz/Getty Images. Most of the movie-going public is at least passingly familiar with Rocky Balboa, the fictional boxer played by Sylvester Stallone in the 1977 Academy Award-winning movie Rocky. But few may be aware that before Stallone wrote the career-changing screenplay, about a rough and tumble fighter who gets a shot at the title, he painted a self-portrait of himself as the main character. “I made a self-portrait with a more defined ‘pug face’ than I had back then, but to capture his sadness, I switched the brush with a screw driver and carved the eyes, Stallone told Artnet News in 2021, on the eve of a survey exhibition of his work at the Osthaus Museum in Hagen, Germany. Like his films, Stallone’s paintings are centered on heroic, but often broken or flawed, male figures. “Both in art and film, I looked at figures like Spartacus or Hercules who radiated hyper-reality through their hyper masculinity,” he told Artnet News. Stallone is acutely aware of how easily dismissed an actor who tries his hand at painting can be, and specifically kept his work out of the public eye so that he would be taken seriously as a filmmaker and actor. He’s gone as far as to say that, had he been recognized as an artist earlier in life, his acting would have become mostly an afterthought. “Painting is where I feel close to a bare-naked truth,” he told Artnet News. Johnny Depp Image Credit: Mike Coppola/Getty Images. There are lots of famous people in the world, among them actor Johnny Depp and those he chooses as subjects for his limited-edition screenprints. Depp’s first one-person show was last year at Castle Fine Art, a UK based prints dealer that has brick and mortar shops all over England. According to the New York Post, 20 minutes after Depp posted a picture of himself in front of four of his screen prints to Instagram along with the words “NOW AT #CASTLEFINEART” the gallery’s website crashed thanks to a horde of Depp fans and print aficionados trying to buy the newly released art. As complaints about the site began to roll in, the gallery tweeted that all 780 prints in Depp’s debut collection, Friends and Heroes, had sold out. The sale was thought to bring in around $3.65 million. Friends and Heroes II was released by Castle Fine Arts in March 2023. The subjects were thematically the same (Heath Ledger, Bob Marley, River Phoenix, and Hunter S. Thompson). Like its predecessor, the run of prints quickly sold out. Lisa Edelstein Image Credit: Udo Salters/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images. Many people, celebrities included, turned to painting during the pandemic. In an interview with Forbes the actress Lisa Edelstein eloquently phrased what it felt like from an actor’s perspective: “One of the first things that I realized in the process of starting to draw and paint was that I didn’t have to wait for somebody to give me the opportunity to do it. And I learned how much I need to be doing things.” For Edelstein, magic marker drawings turned into watercolors that lean into her Jewish upbringing . Earlier this year “Lisa Edelstein: Family” was on view at the recently closed SFA Advisory.
Koenigsegg Regera, World’s Swiftest-Accelerating Manufacturing Motor vehicle
With a time of 28.81 seconds when accelerating to 249 mph and then coming to a full halt, the Koenigsegg Regera retakes its record which it established in 2019. The Swedish carmaker bests the preceding report of 29.94 seconds set by the Rimac Nevera just previous thirty day period and its very own 2019 record of 31.49 seconds when it went from -249- mph. Koenigsegg Regera at Örebro Airport The document was set at the Örebro Airport, which is situated about 50 miles west of Stockholm, in which the hypercar accelerated from -249 mph in just 20.68 seconds and then decelerated to zero in 8.13 seconds. Just as outstanding as its acceleration to 249 mph, its deceleration displays the excellence in its braking abilities. Driven by a twin-turbocharged V-8 and three electric powered motors, the hypercar pumps out 1,500 hp and tends to make use of its groundbreaking technological innovation and the cornerstone is the Koenigsegg Direct Push (KDD) propulsion program. This technologies will allow the motor to be straight linked to the rear axle without having transmission. Also, there is electric powered support for its braking, similar to the system utilized by today’s F1 automobiles.
Alongside with the KDD propulsion technique, Koenigsegg ’s use of Michelin’s new Cup 2R tires was the very simple up grade that served maximize the car’s acceleration to break the entire world report. To start with launched fitness with a confined run of 80 autos at the Geneva Motor Present in 2015, the first cars and trucks had been delivered in 2018.
The Chefs and Scientists Cooking Up New Ways to Feed Us
The child, a 4-year-old with autism, kept munching the dog food. Even when her parents began feeding the dog at night, the child persistently found her way to the animal’s bowl to grab the crunchy pellets. A dietitian figured out the problem: The girl, a “selective eater” like many children on the autism spectrum, had aversions to soft, creamy foods such as peanut butter, eggs, and cheese. That meant she wasn’t getting enough protein. But it took Drexel University’s Food Lab to devise a solution: a crunchy, protein-packed, iron-rich, Goldfish-like cracker made with “upcycled” food – in this case, the nutritionally dense sunflower-seed pomace left in the press after the oil is expelled. The child eats them by the handful. That’s just one of the projects developed by the Food Lab, launched in 2014 by professor Jonathan Deutsch, PhD, who teaches in the Department of Food and Hospitality Management in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. Culinary schools groom talented chefs. Food science programs mint graduates who can analyze an ingredient’s nutritional profile or engineer new manufacturing methods. The Food Lab does both, blending hands-on culinary arts with rigorous research science in an effort to heal a broken food system, one innovative product at a time. The lab’s ambitious mission: to improve the health of people, the planet, and the economy, and to graduate students across academic disciplines who understand how those three things are connected. That mission is evident in a visit to the lab, on the sixth floor of a university building in West Philadelphia. There’s a bustling commercial-style kitchen with multiple stoves, sinks, and a giant pegboard slung with sieves and saucepans. In a conference room, a whiteboard is scribbled with project notes, including molecular breakdowns of ingredients in periodic-table shorthand. Rachel Sherman, dressed every bit the chef/scientist in a double-breasted white jacket, has directed the Food Lab since 2019. A former pastry chef and current graduate student in public health, she offers samples of some of the 100 products the Food Lab has created through partnering with entities ranging from tiny start-up entrepreneurs to city health departments and multinational food companies. There are tasting cups of Reveal Avocado Seed Brew in a tangy mango-ginger flavor, the brainchild of two Drexel graduate students who discovered that avocado pits, typically tossed into fitness compost bins, contain most of the fruit’s antioxidants. Working with the Food Lab, they developed a beverage made from those extracts, earned certification from the FDA, and marketed the drink. Tiny spoons cradle bites of chocolate Mother Butter, devised by a Philadelphia mom who teamed with the Food Lab to make a multi-seed spread that’s vegan, nut-free, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, and packaged in recyclable, returnable glass jars. It’s easy to name the problems Deutsch, Sherman, and their students are trying to solve. More than 2 billion people worldwide lack essential micro-nutrients. Thirty percent of the world’s population is overweight or obese. One-third of global human-caused greenhouse gas emissions come from how we produce, process, and package food. Along the global production route, 1.3 billion tons of food go to waste each year, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization. “We’re facing a far, far deadlier global pandemic than COVID-19. But it’s happening in slow motion,” says Scott Bowman, co-chair of the Nourish Movement, a global collaborative of leaders in health care, food production, and technology. “The food system challenges are centered around this nexus of human health and planetary health.” The pandemic accelerated these problems and made them more visible. Long-standing health disparities related to poverty and healthy-food access became painfully clear; breakdowns in supply chains led to both shortages and excess. That’s why the Food Lab has a particular interest in reducing waste in the food production system: the sunflower-seed pomace turned into protein-dense crackers; a jam made from bacon ends that would have ended up on the factory floor; a highly nutritious broth made from the “carrot dust” left after whole carrots are milled into bite-sized morsels. Deutsch helped found the Upcycled Food Foundation, which promotes and certifies products that use upcycled ingredients – material that otherwise would not have gone toward human consumption and that has a positive impact on the environment. Some Food Lab projects aim to boost population-level health. Concern about higher rates of hypertension, heart disease, and stroke among Black and lower-income adults led the lab to partner with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health on a project, supported by the CDC, to reduce “stealth” sources of sodium on a broad scale. The lab worked with Amoroso’s Baking Company to develop a low-sodium, whole-wheat hoagie bread and rolled it out – pun intended – in the city’s school cafeterias in 2019. It subtracted 1,300 pounds of salt a year from the diets of Philadelphia public school children. Still other projects fall into the bucket of “food as medicine.” There’s a natural, candy-like laxative, made from prunes, dates and coconut, that doesn’t strip beneficial bacteria from the gut, and an ice cream that has the nutritional profile of Ensure but doesn’t make older adults feel babied by having to sip it through a straw. Food Lab staff and students have teamed with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on anti-nausea frozen pops made from natural ingredients. The Food Lab’s mission – to help people, the planet, and the economy – is echoing across the country, from colleges to corporations. The Culinary Institute of America and Stanford University co-lead the Menus of Change University Research Collaborative (MCURC), with 74 higher education institutions using their dining halls as laboratories for food that is healthy, sustainably produced, and “unapologetically delicious.” The National Produce Prescription Collaborative, established in 2021, works to embed “produce prescriptions” – that is, doctors’ scrips for patients on government-sponsored health plans to get healthy food in the same way they would get prescription medicine – into clinical practice. Deutsch, who worked in what he calls the “big, bad food industry” before coming to Drexel, unwinds one afternoon in the Food Lab’s conference room, the table strewn with tasting spoons, half a grapefruit and a jar of TBJ Bacon Jam. They’re currently out of those crackers that kept the 4-year-old out of the dog food. But they may become more widely available to kids with autism-related food aversions. The Food Lab is working with Drexel’s Autism Institute, the university’s Office of Applied Innovation, and a company that wants to bring those crackers to market. “Ultimately,” says Deutsch, “we’re trying to improve the food system in incremental ways.”

Once upon a time IBS used to cripple me. Fighting it was a constant battle.
And without the risk of being or sounding melodramatic, it nearly ruined my life!
Thankfully, I’m well rid of it now!
IBS…Irritable Bowel Syndrome…Nervous Stomach…Irritable Stomach…Irritable Bowel…Irritable Colon…call it what you like, it’s all the same – awful!
It left me feeling frustrated, exhausted, depressed, and at times, just plain angry, but today I can confidently say that these things are all a thing of the past.
Now that I’m IBS free I’ve managed to get my life on track, but this hasn’t always been the case.
It first hit me at college – during my exams. Terrible timing, but not really that much of a surprise when you think about it.
Thinking back to when IBS really began to rear its ugly head, stress and assignment deadlines were constantly hanging over me.
In retrospect, after everything I’ve learned since becoming IBS free, it was an accumulation of things that contributed to my deteriorating health, stress is just one of them!
But still I had no idea what was going on with me. Back then I guess I just put it all down to those “exam nerves!” Wouldn’t you?
Food slowly started to become my mortal enemy.
Without going into too many unpleasant and graphic details, it either disagreed with me and went straight through me, or bloated me to the point where I sometimes appeared pregnant.
My typical diet was that “usual student diet”. You know, the kind that was ridiculously high in carbs, lots of greases, salt galore…basically, I ate anything sweet and stodgy, as you do in your college years.
But that wasn’t anything new. I’d been eating like that for some time. Partying was also the norm. It wouldn’t really be college if it were any different, right?
But like I said, my diet hadn’t really given me any grief up until that point.
BANG – Just Like That It Came From Nowhere
Even now that I don’t suffer from IBS anymore, I can vividly remember the physical and emotional turmoil my body went through time and time again.
Mild cramps that turned into gut-wrenching ones (thank God I finally said good-bye to these IBS symptoms once and for all a while back).
I always thought that I had a high pain threshold, but the first time I really suffered from it properly I knew all about it.
I remember buckling over with the worst cramps I’d ever experienced. I have no words to really describe how it felt.
At times it felt like a knife had been stabbed into my stomach and twisted around ever so slowly.
I ended up going to the campus doctor. He sent me home, told me to drink more fluids and stop my worrying.
“Exam stress!” He said.
Easier said than done. I guess he didn’t remember how he felt at medical school when his entire future was riding on a few hours in an exam room.
Luckily, I haven’t had to see a doctor for any IBS-related symptoms for years now, which I’m grateful for, as I felt like I had a medical loyalty card at one point, which would give me X points for every visit.
If loyalty cards for doctors’ visits were actually a thing, I’d have certainly racked up a fair few points.
Another doctor put it down to bad menstrual cramps and put me on the contraceptive pill to try and control it better.
And Then This Happened…
Two days before my exams I found myself in bed writhing in pain and suffering from diarrhea.
Despite not having experienced such excruciating pain in years, it’s all still very vivid.
You just can’t un-forget some things!
Every few minutes I found myself in the bathroom, afraid if I moved I’d have a very embarrassing mishap, which of course was the last thing any college student wanted.
Again, I found myself back in the doctor’s surgery staring at the sterile white walls, trying to blink back tears, and begging him to fix me so I could do my exams.
The same doctor as the last time gave me Imodium and told me to rest up.
Needless to say those exams didn’t go so well.
I listened to the doctors and wrote it all off as performance anxiety.
They were the experts after all! They knew best!
Ironically, it wasn’t a doctor that eventually cured my IBS.
Making Acquaintances With Doctors
After the whole college experience, I did see a number of different doctors with my various symptoms.
The exams were well and truly over, and by some miracle, I passed them all and got the results I needed, but I was still experiencing strange gut sensations, lethargy, and uncomfortable pain.
I couldn’t blame those exam nerves anymore.
Something wasn’t right.
They all said the same thing – that I was the only one that could measure the symptoms, because unlike a simple sore throat that could be easily diagnosed by simply looking in the mouth and seeing redness and inflammation, and possibly even some minuscule white spots on your tonsils, my symptoms were broad and as most of the doctors said “immeasurable” from a medical standpoint.
How I Nearly Lost My Firm Tens Of Thousands Of Dollars Fast-forward a few years when I was working in a busy advertising firm.
I loved my job, and I was good at what I did.
I was slowly working my way up, and there were even whispers that I’d one day make a partner, which of course is every person’s dream in the world of advertising and marketing.
We worked with some major clients and big-name brands, so the office was always buzzing.
Over the years I learned not to get star-struck by some of the famous faces that walked in our doors, and I’d go as far as saying that I was in my dream job.
One day, in a board meeting, as I was listening to our Director pitch a new project idea to one of our longstanding clients (who also happened to be a Hollywood actor and director), I felt a sharp pain run across my stomach.
It took me by surprise. I grabbed onto my stomach. I may have even gasped.
The room went black and I could hear people buzzing around me.
My stomach bloated and I felt like it could explode at any moment.
I remember the Director’s PA giving me some water and asking me if I were OK.
I can’t remember what I mumbled back, but I do recall the looks of horror in the sea of very important faces that were sitting around that table.
I made a quick exit, without explanation, and ran to the bathroom.
It was at that stage my boss said to me I needed to get to a doctor quick. He cared, I knew he did, but he was also thinking about work.
Now that I’m 100 % healthy again, I completely understand where he was coming from. Having fewer people on board and having to hire temps could have potentially cost our company thousands, if not millions, of dollars.
Thankfully, our client was a loyal one and we were still able to get him on board.
I’d Been Lying To Myself Honestly, I had been burying my head in the sand. Obviously, now that I don’t suffer from any of these awful symptoms anymore, it’s easy for me to say. But I really was petrified of what the doctors were going to tell me.
I replayed the worse case scenarios in my head over and over again.
I sat in front of another doctor yet again. I was pale and slightly yellow, almost jaundice, holding my stomach, and trying not to cry.
He nodded his head knowingly as I listed my symptoms.
Pain, excruciating pain at times.
Cramps, much worse than any monthly female ones.
Bloating and constipation…sometimes so bad, my stomach felt like it had tripled in size.
Diarrhea. This came and went. It was almost as if I alternated between being constipated and having diarrhea at times. Over the years, this had become more frequent, but I just hadn’t ever properly addressed it since my college years.
Fatigue was a massive one. I’d always been a bit of a night owl, but my body struggled to stay up late.
All of these symptoms wreaked havoc on my personal life.
I barely went out in a social capacity, and at times I became a recluse, isolating myself more.
This obviously led to even more things, such as depression, panic attacks, and anxiety.
I had many sleepless nights.
I relayed everything to the doctor, hoping he’d give me an answer.
But first he asked me to rank my pain.
There were two different types of criteria he worked on:
Rome criteria – this gauged the pain and discomfort I felt in my abdomen, and;
Manning criteria – this gauged the pain and discomfort I experienced when I was either constipated or passing stools.
I gave him my honest answers – they were high numbers!
“IBS!” He said quickly! “It looks like Irritable Bowel Syndrome!”
However, he could not be 100% sure since there is no actual formal diagnosis or tests for IBS.
Do you know that feeling of relief? No pun intended, trust me!
Relief is what I felt at that very moment, relief that someone was finally able to put a name to what I had, although I’m even more relieved now that I don’t have to worry about any of this at all.
I think I may have even smiled through the pain at that moment!
I wasn’t even sure I knew what it was. I’d definitely heard of people having it before though.
My gym instructor, who was in her late 40s, was as slim and as fit as could be. She often complained about her IBS “flare-ups” (as she would call them). There were times when I even had to do a double-take – she often appeared “pregnant” out of nowhere.
My questions were innocent enough and quite ‘normal’ considering I was in a place where most people would expect to receive some sort of answer.
It Was Like A Slap Around The Face
“There is no cure!” The doctor replied in a very matter of fact way.
“Excuse me?” I shrieked.
He went on and on. I zoned in and out. I tried to force myself to listen and pay attention to what he was saying, because I’m sure something that he was saying must’ve been of value – he was a medical practitioner after all.
But those words kept ringing in my ears, “THERE IS NO CURE!”
All of a sudden I forgot my stomach cramps and nauseating pain. I felt sickness of another kind. I wanted to desperately throw up.
“No, no, no, no!” My voice screamed at me inside! “No!”
“But there are ways you can manage it!”
Honestly, if only I knew what I know now, and I could’ve been free from the shackles of IBS long ago.
I Couldn’t Believe What I Heard Next Apparently there were ways to manage it.
Change your diet. I nodded solemnly. Although admittedly, my eating habits were far better than my college years when I lived on take-outs, pasta and beer. I considered my diet to be quite healthy.
He didn’t tell me what I should do to it though.
Cut out alcohol. Or at least limit it. I breathed in. Of course a doctor was going to say that.
Take laxatives for the constipation and Imodium for your diarrhea.
That was like an oxymoron.
He was telling me to take two drugs that basically triggered two of my major IBS (I was so glad I had a name for it finally) symptoms.
But he was the doctor. He knew best. Who was I to disagree with his six-plus years of medical school?
I really wished doctors would stop telling me that. If it were that easy to sit back and take it easy, we’d be living in a hippie-type world and wearing flowers in our hair.
Needless to say I think I was left with even more questions than answers.
I just don’t think doctors get it. Well how can they if they’ve never experienced the pain, discomfort, tiredness, and not to mention the sheer embarrassment themselves?
The honest truth is that IBS can turn your world upside down, and it can also catch you off guard, so I discovered the hard (and embarrassing) way.
When it strikes, it can mess up and disrupt everything going on in your life.
IBS doesn’t care if you’re in the middle of a multi-million dollar deal. It doesn’t care if you’re on the sideline watching your kids play Little League. It doesn’t care if you’re on a second date with someone. It really doesn’t care at all!
If that’s not bad enough, it also affects you in different ways, even between your episodes.
Once officially “diagnosed” (if you can call it that without any real tests), I found myself feeling anxious all the time.
“When is it going to strike next?”
That was why I found the doctors’ advice to stop stressing out to be a bit ironic.
I felt like it was impossible to enjoy life like it should be enjoyed.
I certainly couldn’t relax.
In fact, I’m almost certain that my constant worrying also negatively impacted my condition even more.
I wish I could say that my initial confirmation from the doctors gave me comfort, but it didn’t.
I couldn’t see how taking both laxatives and Imodium could help me.
Nor could I see how I could relax more and stop stressing when I had no idea when it was going to catch me out again.
I did seek second and third opinions, but they all pretty gave me the same advice.
In the next year or so, the situation got even worse.
Sometimes I’d be off work 3 or 4 days in a row.
I’d lock myself in my room, in total darkness, praying that it would quickly pass.
I lost friends because of my IBS.
It’s not because they weren’t supportive of me; it was because I just couldn’t face going out into the real world. I went where I had to go and then headed immediately home.
I’d cancel on friends and family at the last minute. I’d turn down invites. And not surprisingly, the calls, messages, and invites slowly began to cool off.
Forget the day when I had to run out of the boardroom holding onto my stomach in agony…that day was just one of many!
And because I’d had no “cure” it meant that I still had IBS.
Chronic fatigue set in. As a result, my productivity suffered too, to the point that I was hauled in front of my boss and asked if I had some dependency issues. I think he was referring to drugs or alcohol.
To be fair, I’d lost weight, looked pale, and had permanent dark rings under my eyes.
I wasn’t a pretty sight.
I explained that I’d been diagnosed with IBS, but this meant nothing to him. He had a business to run.
Losing my job was a bit of a reality check.
I guess I could’ve fought it. I possibly could’ve sued them. But what was the point?
I had to figure it out. I needed to take control back. Because who, in their right mind, would ever employ me in such a state?
No way was I going to pump myself up with a concoction of laxatives, Imodium and anti-depressants.
I joined every IBS forum I could find. I spent hours chatting on Facebook to people that were also suffering from it.
Some people had it even worse off than me. There were some that had lost their homes, and their families.
How could one condition that some stated wasn’t travel even a proper medical condition cause so many problems and wreck so many lives?
I’m just so thankful that I have a happy ending to my story and my IBS has well and truly gone.
Unfortunately, there are so many other people out there that can’t say the same. Because just like I had once done, they rely solely on the advice of doctors.
To say I became a little obsessed with ridding myself of this condition is an absolute understatement. All you had to do was go into my computer history to see what I mean.
Some friendly people online had been experimenting with treating their triggers.
Surely, focusing on the triggers could at least minimize my flare-ups. Doing this could help me get back on track with everything. I was desperate to try and rebuild my life.
What I had learned about IBS was not one size fits all. Every single person is different, and what might trigger my IBS could be something completely different for someone else.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t as easy as the doctors made it out to be.
One thing many doctors told me was to change my diet.
They told me to eliminate things, but they didn’t tell me what to remove.
I had no idea about how to eliminate and then re-add.
Was it a matter of going cold turkey with certain food?
So while the medical experts’ advice sounded good and made sense to me in theory, it was difficult to put into practice without guidance.
So I took it upon myself to try almost every diet I could find online that came up when I tapped in the words “Diets for IBS”.
High-fiber diets, low-fiber diets, low-fat diets, the ketogenic diet, a gluten-free diet, and a low FODMAP diet were just some of the diets I attempted and failed at.
Again, if I were armed with the information about how to get rid of IBS back then, things would’ve been completely different.
A Random Online Encounter Changed My Life I lose count now as to how many online groups and forums I joined, however one thing for sure was that these were the groups that I regularly (and still do) interact with.
The difference now is that I’m often the one giving advice and pointing people towards the thing that can change their lives.
On particularly bad days, I sent public pleas for help and advice. I wanted to know anything and everything that has worked for other IBS sufferers.
Julissa contacted me on a random Saturday morning. She’d seen a post that I’d written. The post referred to doctors telling me to eliminate things from my diet without giving me any details as to how to do it.
Elimination Was The Right Answer She explained to me her family’s personal experiences with IBS and how elimination had worked for her niece.
But it all had to be done in a systematic way; otherwise the “elimination process” would be a fruitless exercise.
She definitely had my attention.
How I Became IBS Free In Literally No Time At All
Apparently I didn’t need long to reduce and perhaps get rid of some, or all, of my IBS symptoms.
I’d been fighting these symptoms for years. For the longest of time, I didn’t even know I had IBS. I’d even lost the job that I’d absolutely loved because I just couldn’t get on top of things, which included my mental health.
This short period of time for healing myself compared to the countless days of anguish that I’d previously experienced was a drop in the ocean, and something I was 100 % willing to have a go at.
There were rules to be followed to get the answers I was looking for, which I did, and what I found out shocked me. Well, I haven’t experienced any of those awful IBS symptoms that are commonly associated with this crippling condition for well over a year. I’ve learned that there are ways to beat it and minimize the risk of having an episode again, and now that I’ve made those necessary and very easy tweaks in the way I live, my quality of life is so much better.
Empowerment and control are just two words I’d use to describe what this simple program has given me. And obviously, because everything has a knock-on effect, I feel more relaxed, less anxious, and much happier.
Here’s to being IBS free now and the rest of my life!
Once you go through Julissa’s step-by-step plan, you’ll quickly see and understand that there are more triggers (and secondary triggers) than what research tells us.
It’s about understanding your body and your environment. Each person is different.
But as well as triggers, there are other factors that contribute to IBS, which in a way I guess could be classified as triggers as well.
Your gut’s flora, its ability to chemically break down food, and intestinal and gut muscle spasms are all pieces of the bigger puzzle.
So What’s It All About? This thorough and well laid out step-by-step plan addresses the physical and emotional triggers and the possible medical explanations of IBS.
I found the program easy to follow, and because of it, I am now a happy and healthy person once more.
A clear-cut diet, explicit instructions on how to eliminate and re-introduce food, exercises, supplement advice, and additional information about alternative therapies are what make this step-by-step plan more useful and valuable than anything else I’ve read, including advice I received from doctors.
Because let’s face it, all the doctors I’d ever spoken to said that I could never get rid of my IBS, and how wrong they were…
Because I never suffer from it anymore!
To make it work, you’ve got to follow it. No cutting corners, no-nonsense.
I’m forever grateful for the advice I received from Julissa that day.
She reached out at the right time when I needed help the most when I felt like I was losing control.
I followed the step-by-step program and her advice down to a tee, and even in week one, I began to notice differences.
I feel like a whole new person, mentally and physically, and I’m happy to report I am currently IBS free, and I have been for some time, and I credit it all to this amazingly informative plan.
Although I do consider myself cured, I still follow the plan – I consider it to be my bible.
My diet is on point. The exercises have become a regular part of my daily life. I supplement with Vitamin D, turmeric, and magnesium, AND…
I’ve never felt happier and healthier!
Not only am I back working, but I’ve also managed to land a position I love.
My friendships are back on track, and I’ve even found happiness in love as well.
OK, so this program isn’t magic in the fact it will find you a new romance or rekindle friendships, but it will point you in the direction you need and give you all the necessary information.
One thing I can vouch for is that it definitely worked for me.
If you suffer from IBS, whether it’s a mild form of chronic, I know you’re not 100% happy.
I also know that you’ve been suffering from pain and discomfort.
The thing about this step-by-step plan is it is so incredibly easy to follow. Like super easy!
I didn’t need to buy anything new!
No expensive “diet” foods. No gym memberships or equipment. No expensive experimental drugs. Nothing!
The best thing is I don’t have to spend endless hours in doctors’ surgeries or hospitals waiting for answers anymore.
I’m proud to say that I haven’t stepped into a doctor’s office for almost a year and a half, which is quite a feat for somebody that had once frequented every family practice in the locale on a regular basis.
The exercises I did (and still do) at home. Sometimes, when I have a moment, I also do them at work, because they’re that short and that easy. And when I have to travel for work, I often find myself doing them on the plane.
They’re great because I can incorporate them into my everyday life with ease without any disruption.
I’ve learned to change my lifestyle. I continue to follow all the instructions. Because by doing this, I know that I’ll be able to maintain a life free of IBS and its crippling symptoms.
Click below to get your easy to follow step-by-step program today.
Yes, please send me my step-by-step plan now…
What have you got to lose by trying this method out?
Other than your awful IBS symptoms and unhappiness?
Even in my desperation I was a little skeptical of it all, especially since I’d tried and failed so many other methods, and no doctor I’d visited could help me like I’d hoped they would.
This clear program isn’t made up of anything. It’s based on scientific factual evidence concerning the triggers of IBS.
It’s an easy-to-follow plan, and because it is so easy, it’s not that difficult to include it in your life and make the necessary tweaks in the way you live.
And if you’re anything like me, once you start noticing the differences, you’ll become determined to make it work for you and continue with the program well after the suggested time is up.
Julissa’s program is different to the rest. It’s so simple. It’s easy to follow and it also offers some step-by-step instructions.
What makes this plan even more unique is that it looks at IBS holistically. It looks at every aspect of IBS and all its triggers. From there, everything is separated into manageable chunks, which make it easy (and even fun) to follow.
Trust me when I say you won’t live to regret this.
I hope that you too can find all the answers for your IBS you’re looking for just like I did.

Indigenous Art Code Revokes Membership of APY Art Centre Collective – ARTnews.com
The organization which regulates the First Nations arts sector in Australia has revoked the membership of the APY Art Centre Collective. The decision from the Indigenous Art Code (IartC) came after the publication of a high-profile investigation into whether the APY ACC allowed white art assistants to paint on the canvas of Aboriginal artists, undermining the authenticity of the works. The investigation also prompted the review and postponement of a major exhibition at the National Gallery of Australia featuring art works by APY ACC artists. Related Articles The IartC administers a voluntary set of rules and guidelines that Indigenous and non-Indigenous dealers “commit to follow to ensure ethical practices and fair treatment” for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists in Australia. The Code of Conduct was launched in 2009 to provide “a standard for ethical conduct of dealers of Indigenous visual arts” but is not mandatory under law. The IartC confirmed to ABC News Australia that APY Art Centre Collective’s membership had been terminated. “In making a decision to terminate APY ACC’s membership, the directors of IartC acted in accordance with the procedure set out in IartC’s Constitution,” the organization said. “IartC rejects the assertions by APY ACC that IartC acted without regard to due process or natural justice, or that APY ACC was not given an opportunity to be heard on the issue.” The National Gallery of Australia’s exhibition “Ngura Pulka – Epic Country,” originally scheduled to open on June 7, featured 28 paintings from Aboriginal artists from the APY Art Center Collective (APY ACC). It was billed as one of the largest community-driven art projects to be displayed at the Canberra museum. But in early April, the Australian published a report and video alleging that white studio staff had been painting on the works attributed to residents of Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY), sparsely populated lands in remote South Australia home to more than 20 Aboriginal communities. Video published by the Australian appears to show a non-Indigenous art assistant making creative decisions and painting on a depiction of the Tjukurpa, the creation period of ancestral beings that also formed the religion, law, and moral systems that govern Anangu society. The newspaper’s four-month report prompted questions about whether the work of white assistants at the APY ACC interfered with the artistic process and its authenticity. It prompted a review from the museum and a government investigation. The Australian‘s investigative report also raised questions around the ethics of the production and integrity of Aboriginal art in the country amid its rising profile in the art world. The APY ACC includes the famous Ken Sisters, winners of the $50,000 Wynne Prize for landscape painting in 2016. Artworks by APY artists are also increasingly popular at auction, with some selling for thousands of dollars. The National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of New South Wales, and the Art Gallery of South Australia also have “significant collections of work from the Anunga people of the APY Lands”, according to the Sydney Morning Herald . On June 7, the NGA officially announced that “Ngura Pulka – Epic Country” would be postponed. On June 27, the APY ACC told ABC News Australia that IartC had taken the action to revoke its membership without “regard to due process or natural justice.” “Our request for the IartC to put allegations to us with precision for APYACC to be able news to fairly respond to them was denied,” the APY Art Collective statement said. “The IartC’s prejudgement in relation to these untested allegations is extremely premature.” Both the APY ACC and the IartC did not respond to requests for comment from ARTnews.
Singer DLS Turbo is an Outlandish Track Toy with Immense Energy
Singer has discovered its most putting generation still and this time it is a riot of cuts and creases together with a spoiler. The California-based luxury expert is known to reimagine Porsches with each individual automobile striving to outdo the previous a person. The Dynamics & Lightweighting Review (DLS) is a wild supercar and leaves behind the standard Porsche layout ethos for a a lot extra intense seem. DLS Turbo restoration providers are all about the 934/5 stamina racers of the 1970s. In the yr that Singer is heading racing with the hottest turbocharged Porsche endurance race auto, the Variety 963, this celebration of racing DNA brings alongside one another the past as properly as the existing. The background behind the 911 is considerable since it started as a normally aspirated motor vehicle even though in the mid-1970s, the turbocharged 911 arrived in and experienced an similarly thrilling evolution. In 1977 this led to a racing variant of the 911, acknowledged as the Style 934/5, which dominated the SCCA Trans-American collection, successful 6 of the 8 races and the championship. Rob Dickinson, Government Chairman, and Founder, of Singer Group, Inc. demonstrate: “I was 12 when my father’s good friend showed us his Tremendous 8 movie of the 1977 Watkins Glen 6 Hours. As the acquainted facial area of a Porsche 911 morphed into impossibly boxed hips, gaping intakes, and a huge double-planed rear wing, I can still don’t forget the shock and the realization that this was the other life of the 911 – the racing automobile. Due to the fact Singer commenced, I have desired to return to that minute, collaborate with our purchasers and news rejoice that motor vehicle – the 934/5.”
For this new automobile, the owner of a Variety 964 Porsche 911 experienced despatched their car to Singer with a whole restoration in mind. Therefore, the interior is taken out, as is the exterior bodywork and all mechanical elements, till the steel monocoque (chassis) is exposed. The chassis is painstakingly assessed, cleaned, strengthened, and ready so that it is in optimal situation for the upcoming levels of restoration. Then, modified carbon fiber bodywork is extra which provides in lightness plus bringing in added stiffness far too. A ton of that wild shape is also motivated by aerodynamic effectiveness. A central front ingestion and hood vent optimize cooling effectiveness, when rear fender intakes and NACA ducts help brake and turbocharger cooling. The coloration of this vehicle is in Blood Orange which has been specified by its proprietor. Then you get a superior-downforce rear wing with an adjustable higher component and a keep track of-oriented front fascia with a much larger splitter. The vehicle in Moet Blanc has been specified by its operator to be highway-targeted, which includes an aero-optimized rear ducktail spoiler and street-oriented front fascia which reduce drag.
Homeowners might request that their Sort 964 is modified to take the two aero configurations. The front fascia and rear decklid assembly can be eliminated and switched, making it possible for top personalization and liberty of decision for every operator. Like often, the engine from the owner’s Style 964 Porsche 911 is disassembled down to the motor block just before remaining restored using numerous modifications. The 3.8L, 4-valves-for each-cylinder flat-six makes use of twin turbochargers, electric powered wastegates, an air-to-drinking water intercooler, and a horizontally mounted, electrically powered lover. This signifies for the DLS restorations, the power outputs are around 700 HP at additional than 9000 rpm. It is also an analog car with a 6-speed guide transmission which sends power to the rear wheels. Monitor-oriented suspension and bespoke dampers with distant adjustment are also additional to the combine. Last but not least, carbon ceramic discs and light-weight, monobloc calipers for both of those street and observe use are installed. Then a closer look demonstrates the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 or Cup 2R tires which are mounted on light-weight 19” (front) and 20” (rear) solid magnesium, middle lock wheels.
Of program, owners can specially personalize their autos with bespoke paints and finishes though price ranges are bound to be north of $1.8 million.
Cars and trucks like these are bespoke and contend with other hypercars even though the personalization appeals to prospective buyers along with the exclusive packaging and rarity. Singer vehicles have also inspired other firms to enter the Porsche restomod scene and extra are also getting extra with flouring demand all more than the globe for these beautiful cars.
Titanic submarine latest: OceanGate still advertising Titan trips after human remains recovered from wreckage
Titan submersible wreckage brought ashore after fatal implosion Sign up to our Evening Headlines email for your daily guide to the latest news
Sign up to our free US Evening Headlines email The company that operated the doomed submersible that imploded in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean is still advertising expeditions to the Titanic wreckage on its website. Reports emerged last week that OceanGate Expeditions closed its doors indefinitely after its CEO Stockton Rush, British billionaire Hamish Harding, French diving expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old Suleman died when the company’s Titan sub imploded while on a tour to the Titanic’s wreck.
But more than 10 days after the tragedy – and a week after it was confirmed, the OceanGate website still features available dates for two separate eight-day expeditions next year.
The company’s future is now uncertain, as industry experts have told the New York Post that all planned expeditions to the Titanic have been called off. The Independent has reached out to OceanGate for comment. It comes as “presumed human remains” have been discovered near the wreck of the Titan submarine, the US Coast Guard announced on Wednesday.
The remains will be brought back to the US and analyzed, part of the wider international investigation into what went wrong during the catastrophic voyage to the Titanic shipwreck earlier this month. 1688104800 ‘Ridiculous’: Titanic museums mocked for having memorials for submarine expedition
Two memorials were held last week at Titanic museums across the US, in honour of the five people who died earlier this month on a submarine expedition to the famous ship wreck.
The services were held at Titanic museums in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and Branson, Missouri.
Both museums are owned by John Josyln, part of a team that explored the Titanic wreckage in a famous 1987 televised expedition. Andrea Blanco 30 June 2023 07:00 1688101200 Presumed human remains found in debris from Titan submersible – US Coast Guard
Medical professionals will formally analyse presumed human remains recovered from the wreckage of the Titan submersible.
The US Coast Guard (USCG) said it received debris and evidence from the sea floor at the site of the deep-sea vessel’s fatal implosion, which killed five people.
British adventurer Hamish Harding and father and son Shahzada and Suleman Dawood were killed on board the vessel near the wreckage of the Titanic, alongside OceanGate Expeditions’ chief executive, Stockton Rush, and French national Paul-Henri Nargeolet. A 20-year-old man who had a lucky escape from the doomed Titanic sub disaster has revealed how he turned down his father’s offer of a “bucket list” trip because he feared the vessel wasn’t safe.
Sean Bloom, 20, told People that he and his financier father Jay Bloom almost signed up to join OceanGate Expeditions’ tourist trip to visit the Titanic wreckage.
But, Mr Bloom said that he ultimately refused to go because he wasn’t convinced the Titan submersible would be able to withstand the pressure around 13,000 feet deep in the Atlantic Ocean.
“The whole reason my dad didn’t go was because I told him, ‘Dude, this submarine cannot survive going that deep in the ocean,’” Sean told People. Andrea Blanco 30 June 2023 05:00 1688094027 WATCH: Titan submersible wreckage brought ashore after fatal implosion

A job advert posted by the company that operated the doomed Titanic submersible that imploded last week in the Atlantic Ocean has sparked backlash on social media.
TikTok users have hit out at the since-deleted job posting by embattled OceanGate Expeditions, following the tragedy that killed all five of its passengers. According to the advertising featured on the company’s website and on Indeed, OceanGate was accepting applicants for a sub pilot position.
The company noted that it had an “urgent opening” and was looking for committed individuals with a “combination of strong mechanical and interpersonal skills,” and experience working with submersibles and boats as well as operating complex systems to support dive operations, Insider reported. Among other requirements, applicants were asked to be comfortable in a confined space and be able to fit through a 28-inch diameter ring.
OceanGate not only hosted tours to the wreck of the Titanic, but also to the Azores Archipelago in Portugal and to the Bahamas. One pilot, one “content expert” and three mission specialists — or fee-paying passengers without any previous experience needed — participated in every dive, according to the company’s website. The post was removed sometime on 23 June, a day after the US Coast Guard confirmed that the vessel’s chambers were found 1,600ft from the wreck of the Titanic on the ocean floor, but not without being noticed by furious sleuths that criticised the timing. The teenager who died on the Titan submersible took a Rubik’s cube with him because he wanted to break a world record, his mother has said.
Christine Dawood told the BBC her son Suleman, 19, was “so excited” to try and solve the puzzle 3,700 metres below the ocean surface.
Meanwhile, his father Shahzada, a businessman, was “so excited he was like a child” at the prospect of seeing the Titanic wreckage.
He had applied to Guinness World Records and his father, who also died, had brought a camera with him to capture the moment.
Ms Dawood said her son loved the famous square puzzle so much that he carried it with him everywhere and dazzled onlookers by solving it in 12 just seconds. Andrea Blanco 30 June 2023 02:00 1688083227 Titanic to ‘return to Netflix’ on 1 July

The Coast Guard announced just hours later that medical professionals will formally analyse presumed human remains found on the debris.
Speaking after the evidence was recovered, the Marine Board of Investigation’s (MBI) chairman, Captain Jason Neubauer, said: “I am grateful for the coordinated international and inter-agency support to recover and preserve this vital evidence at extreme offshore distances and depths.
“The evidence will provide investigators from several international jurisdictions with critical insights into the cause of this tragedy.
“There is still a substantial amount of work to be done to understand the factors that led to the catastrophic loss of the Titan and help ensure a similar tragedy does not occur again.” Andrea Blanco 29 June 2023 22:29 1688070187 Friend of OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush warned him about ‘succumbing to pressures of [his] own creation’
Emails obtained by Insider health show an exchange between Mr Rush and Karl Stanley, the owner of another dive expedition company. Mr Stanley shared concerns about a large cracking sound during a two-hour dive aboard the Titan in the Bahamas. “I don’t think if you push forward with dives to the Titantic this season it will be succumbing to financial pressures, I think it will be succumbing to pressures of your own creation in some part dictated by ego to do what people said couldn’t be done,” Mr Stanley warned. Kenny Smith Goes On Another Miami Beach Date With Aline Bernardes
Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley are gonna love this — Kenny “The Jet” Smith has landed back on the beaches of Miami … and he brought along the stunning Aline Bernardes for another relaxing day in the sun. The “Inside The NBA” cohost and his lady first made waves back in May when they were spotted out in Florida together … which, naturally, travel had his TV buddies cracking jokes left and right for the next few days. Luckily for Smith, the NBA season is over … so he can enjoy his free time with the model without worrying about the guys cracking jokes in front of a national audience. Smith and Bernardes appear to be really into each other — they were closer than ever as they rocked their swimsuits and went for a soak in the water on Thursday. While their first trip to the beach was pretty chill, there was more PDA this time around — Aline wrapped her arms around the NBA champ as they walked deeper into the ocean. It looks like the return to the beach was entertaining for both … they smiled from ear-to-ear throughout the day. Enjoy your summer, Kenny … but you may wanna mute that “Inside The NBA” group text for a few days, just in case.
